GENERAL DESCRIPTION

This multi-purpose workvessel has recently been launched early 2020 at Legacy Marine in Whakatane, New Zealand. This first vessel of this type "Midnight Oil" is outfitted as a Fuel barge / Tanker for Hauraki Express, which will be transporting fuel through out the Hauraki Gulf region from Auckland harbour to the Coromandel.

The design brief of this vessel was quite challenging. It's a relatively small vessel with a limited amount of power and lot's of cargo (high) on deck. Stability, seakeeping and a required speed were important success factors. We used extended CFD calculations to simulate the performance and we are very happy to have delivered a succesful design.
